Laguna Beach...

Hello again from the sunny California.

Well I’m back in Barnes & Nobel using their free Wi-Fi. This time we are giving them business…..$2.10 for a large passion iced tea! fabulous!

Currently Scottie is at CBU working the volleyball game. He has been assigned to the women’s volleyball team for his clinical hours. Quite ironic that I will be living in accordance with volleyball hours again this fall…..only wish I could be nannying for some very adorable babies! Anyways… we had a wonderful morning together. Woke up and went for a painful and long run. We both haven’t worked out since Minnesota…and realized we need to get back in a routine, it just sucks that the first week is so painful and long. After the run we opened up our Magic Bullet and took a maiden voyage. It was a success. We made a mixed berry yogurt smoothie to go along with our yummy pancakes. Then it was time for Scottie to go to school….

Okay so I’m going to jump back in time….last night!
All week Scottie kept telling me he was going to take me on a surprise adventure this weekend when we both had time off. Since most of today was booked I thought that meant Sunday. Well yesterday he completed his clinical hours at 12:30 and came home to spend the rest of the day with me. It made for a great time for us to go on the surprise adventure. We jumped in the car with our swimsuits (i kind of had a clue) and drove through the mountain pass to Laguna. We were not sure what we were getting ourselves into until we got on the road about 20 minutes. There is a reason that only a few people take this certain mountain pass…..it is a toll road. Well it was to late for us to turn around so we had to pay our way to Laguna. We didn’t realize really what a great thing this was until we came home…Anyways we got down to crazy, jam packed, Laguna Beach. After a long search for a FREE parking place, we were off to lay on the beach. It was a beautiful day and cool enough to be comfortable in clothes. We just spent the afternoon laying on the beach, people watching, and soaking up being somewhere other than Riverside! Around 6 we started our journey back to Riverside. Little did we know how long this would take. We decided to take the un-tolled road back to save money (we didn’t even have enough change to make it through 2 tolls). Soon we realized why the toll road is so great. We were in traffic for 2 hours and 30 minutes…..all to go about 45 miles!
5 lane traffic moving at 4mph.
The best part about this little journey was that I was able to witness all the psychotic drivers. Motorcycles flying between the lanes of cars. The carpool lane was flying past. Broken down corvette, that we all had to merge lanes to get around. A crash involving a mercedes and little honda. Police on big motorcycles. Latinas blasting their music so loud we could hear the words in our car with the windows rolled up. and so much more.
So needless to say we had a fun and entertaining night taking an adventure to Laguna. Oh and for all you MTV fans….we didn’t see anyone famous. I actually couldn’t place any of the show from what I saw…. except for the view of the houses stacked on the hillside.
Still missing Minnesota and we want to wish all those celebrating today many blessings.
A dear friend from highschool, Rachel Brown, is getting married this afternoon.
A special sister from Northwestern, Jessica Heldman, is getting married this morning.
And… many wishes to my Grandma and her new husband Dale! They are celebrating today at their wedding reception. The first time all the family will meet, and so sad that we can not be there. Between Dale and Grandma there are 20 children (wives and husbands) 25 + grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. What a legacy!
