What is new? Well….. just a lot of little things.
- Our football team at Norte Vista is going to the CIF Tournament. The equivalent of state, and our first game is this Friday up in Victorville. It is called the high desert…we drive up the mountains for about an hour and behold another desert, but more like a colder desert. The forecast is 34 degrees for the evening. When coach told this to the team I wish you all could have seen their faces. One player stood up and dramatically but very honestly said he was surely going to die! There is a bit of panic in the air due to the temperatures. The team doesn’t know what to do with the cold night that is coming. We have been practicing under the lights to get a ‘game like’ feeling. I personally think we should stick them all in a walk-in freezer and acclimate them to the temperatures!!! Needless to say, Scottie & I will go prepared for the weather and can’t wait to be up in the mountains.
- My wonderful, beautiful, amazing mama turned 50. We were sad not to be at home celebrating with her and the family, but can’t wait to celebrate again when we come home. I was glad to hear that everyone at home made her day special and she made some awesome memories.
- I am still busy busy busy working at The SPORT Clinic. I cannot begin to explain all that I have learned and continue to learn each day. We recently started The SPORT Concussion Clinic, and it is amazing to see that take off and see athletes heal. Also, we are continually busy with new little projects. I will post the newest on the blog when it is finished. Jim & I shot little videos of home rehabilitation exercises for ankle and shoulder injuries. Jim shot. I did the exercises! They should be up on the website in the next couple weeks.
- Harry Potter comes out this week…and we have learned so much this past weekend about Harry Potter Fanatics. For those of you who do not know,Quidditch is a real game. The world cup was held this past weekend in NYC. Jim’s daughter went (she is doing a documentary) and sent us video footage. It’s crazy. The game is a mix between soccer, lacrosse, and rugby. There is a snitch (he runs around in a yellow outfit). Needless to say…. They need an athletic trainer! One kid broke his arm, and others had less serious injuries. Just a thought.
- Next week is Thanksgiving! We are going up to Simi Valley to Don & Sharon’s for the holiday. Hoping to head up there on Tuesday/Wednesday and stay until Friday. Jenny is flying in on Thursday to spend the holiday with us! It will be a wonderful time, and we are both looking forward to a break. Scottie is hitting the midsemester wall.
- I’m still tutoring and such. It has been fun, and definitely a great learning experience. I still can’t get over the math they teach us in high school that a majority of us will never see again.
- 21 days and I will be on my journey home. I am so excited, but can’t believe it is so soon. I feel like I have so much to get done here before I leave. It still blows my mind that I am graduating in 30 days. Where on earth did college go…. And now I’m a grown up? I know that everyone says life just gets faster….but seriously I didn’t think it would go this fast.
So that is our little life in a nutshell.
If you would be praying for us in the days to come. A few specific things…
-Scottie is hitting a midsemester wall. A lot of heavy things and grad school. He has been doing really well, but I can see the wear and tear of daily life.
-We are homesick still. Unbelievable? I guess not really, but when we are low it really hits full force. We miss the little things. The big things. But mostly family, friends and the ORDINARY things.
-Friendships here in Riverside. We have been blessed to encounter many precious people, but our hearts continue to break for them. The Lord is not present, and there is no visual hunger for Him.
-Health. We are both fighting off things daily it seems. Colds, sinus infections, allergies. The wind here sure kicks up some nasty “stuff”. Not jiving with my body.
All our love and prayers! May you all finish strong this semester in school, and stay strong and steady in the Lord.
