one august ago

we were spending our first night in riverside.

trying not to let our homesickness consume us,

and prepare for Scottie's first day of orientation the next morning.

tonight we sit in a new apartment,

with new room mates,

and prepare for Scottie's last-first day of orientation in the morning.

oh, how time flies.

when we were traveling cross country i wrote about the adventure.

i will just give a short recap

and share with you our road trip.

it would have started last week.

tuesday:

mom came to the cities,

i had my last dinner with Lo & Mer,

showed the fam wedding pictures,

finished packing with the help of Jess, Nikki & Jenny.

wednesday:

ran errands in the morning,

went to Dunn Bros to say goodbye to Nikki,

stopped at the Roseville Library,

Papi came down with the brothers,

we packed up the moving truck,

went to grandma's in Hastings,

Scottie said his  goodbyes to Sam & Anthony,

sold/gave the van to A,

mom & the brothers went home,

Papi, Scottie & I spent the night at grandma's.

thursday:

we left at 6am in the moving truck & our car,

we ate in York, Nebraska,

spent the night in Sterling, Colorado,

stayed in the only vacant room in the town,

smoking room w/ 2 queen beds.

friday:

ate breakfast,

headed toward Denver,

drove through the Rockies,

stopped in George Town to get gas & stretch,

stopped in Glenwood Springs to eat at a small shop

stopped at a lookout point in Utah,

made it to Beaver, Utah....

but again there were no vacant rooms,

had to continue on to next small town.

saturday:

ate breakfast,

drove through the beautiful canyons in Arizona,

stopped to eat in Death Valley,

drove through Vegas,

downtown LA,

and arrived in Simi Valley in the evening.

sunday:

rested,

played in the pool,

looked for apartments online,

and enjoyed time with Don & Sharon.

monday:

drove to Riverside,

went apartment hunting,

finally found a place that was willing to let us do paperwork,

and willing to let us move in by wednesday,

went back to Simi Valley to wait for our credit to clear.

tuesday:

got a call that we were cleared for the apartment,

went back to Riverside,

moved from 4pm on,

then drove down to Palm Springs,

stayed at a hotel,

and tried to get use to the 100+ degree weather.

wednesday:

papi flew home,

we dropped off the moving truck,

attempted to unpack,

but ended up sleeping all day,

sadly it was due to being so homesick.

...

and a year later here we are again.

not as homesick,

but trying to prepare for another year.

but as the bible says,

"don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself."

so to those of you in transition,

or preparing for a big change,

just take a deep breath and worry only about the day you are in.

before you know it a whole week/month/and year will go by,

and you will be able to look back and see how our LORD provided through it all.
