should take their praises & retire.
i would like to tell you this baby mama has had all day sickness.
never being pregnant before,
& really never having a close friend who was pregnant,
i had no clue what was all in store.
my all day sickness was actually the final trigger that made me pee on a stick.
i was sick in 80 degree weather in northern minnesota,
around the same people for over a few weeks
& no one who had been sick.
the first couple weeks were just bad.
i had no idea what would help or not help.
having never thrown up before
& never truly experiencing nausea i was a lost pup.
during the move & time in california i was able to gain some control.
>>eating the minute i woke up<<
this was frustrating.
i like to do my morning bathroom routine before i visit the kitchen,
but this was not an option.
wake up & run to the kitchen.
that was the new morning routine.
thanks to my mama who taught me to eat in the morning growing up
no matter how hungry i wasn't.
>>finding trigger foods/smells<<
no more strong seasoning smells.
garlic is not an option.
greasy food is out.
dairy is still not a friend.
sugar & chocolate make me gag.
>>finding my new favorite foods<<
a bowl of green olives & dill pickles anyone?
sour everything.
lemons, limes, citrus.
bagels, yum.
bowls of cereal.
fruit, fruit & more fruit.
water with lemon. water with out. water.
jolly ranchers to curb nausea quickly.
>>guilty pleasures<<
these i have had one or two times,
but in dire moments when tears were the only other options,
what is a baby mama to do?
poor hubs.
mcdonalds chicken nugs & bbq sauce.
sour patch kids.
soda, i crave carbonation?
>>what i miss<<
sushi. sushi. sushi.
all you can eat sushi.
wait, sushi?
pretty sure i crave it because i can't have it?
if there is any reliable research out there that says i can have some,
please be a gem & send it my way!
both myself & hubs would love you forever. deal?
deli meat.
again, probably because its a no-no.
butch's grinders in riverside.
turkey on wheat. yum in the tum.
of course this is MY experience.
everyone is so different,
i guess i had just always heard the same stuff over & over.
just figured it would be the same for everyone.
ha. what did i know.
so, off to discover some food that will satisfy me today!
thinking soup? sounds good in the moment anyways.

Oh girl! This post made me laugh AND take me back to my first trimester : ) Literally could only eat hot and sour soup for breakfast, lunch, and dinner from weeks 6-10. And then I started craving all the same things as you! Grapefruits and green olives especially! Hahaha! I'd never even eaten a grapefruit before but I was eating at least one a day : / And I totally say eat WHATEVER you can during those first few months because the baby (and you!) need something! I also was craving all the things they say you shouldn't eat/drink... sushi, coffee, lunch meat, and ALCOHOL!!! Hahahaha! It is important to limit your seafood intake turing those first few months, but most sushi is cooked, so it is safe to eat in small quantities (i think they say 8-12 oz. per week during the first trimester). I have plenty of friends that ate sushi throughout their pregnancy and both mama and baby are fine. It's up to you though! I'm too black and white and my cravings are so strong sometimes that I know if I partake in them that I'll totally over-indulge : ) HAHAHA. I have eaten sushi though, just not the raw stuff! Also, you can totally have lunch meat... If you're worried about it though, they say to heat the meat in the microwave to steaming to kill any bacteria but then it's safe to eat. And you can let it cool, you don't have to eat it hot. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions. I've had a hard time with pregnancy too, as it was NOT what I expected at all... so anyway I can help, just let me know : ) You're doing great!
I just found your blog & its lovely. You and your husband are so cute! and congrats on being prego!
Natalia! I'm so happy for you! About the sushi thing, my friend is pregos as well and she was also craving sushi. So, she made her own sushi so that she would make sure the seafood was cooked well and she could control how much seafood she eats. You can definitely have a little bit of seafood, or opt for the veggie kind of sushi.
miss you lots!
thank you so much ladies for leaving some feed back & love. i'm glad i don't sound to crazy! ha. & am happily looking into some new food options. can't wait to grocery shop this weekend!!!!
grow baby grow.
I never craved sushi or lunch meat, but being from northern Minnesota and having a hubby who loves to fish I craved fish! He was really diligent about making sure we didn't eat it too often. I hadn't even heard that you aren't supposed to have lunch meat until after my 3rd baby! One thing that helped me (mostly with my restless leg stuff, but also with pop cravings) was mineral water. It is bubbly, but that is it. No sugar, no anything! Some people don't like the taste, but I loved it! After 5 full term pregnancies, I've seen alot; if you have any questions feel free to ask!!!
Hey :) I'm an old friend of your hubby's and have read your blog here and there. Love it, by the way! :)
I was super, super sick with my daughter. (Like, all-day sick for the first 24 weeks.) It helped me to eat a little at a time all throughout the day. Coffee made me sick. :( Chocolate made me even sicker, though I still wanted it. To make everything worse, I was living in Southeast Asia where the smell of all bathrooms made me lose whatever was in my stomach. So I get this. And I'm sorry. :(
But the good news? I did eat sushi. As long as the meat is cooked which, I know, takes a lot of things out. But it does leave you with a few options. We had a sushi place close to us that made a really good baked salmon sushi roll...I ate a lot of those. :)
I'm also a Diet Coke addict...and I let myself have one here and there. Just in moderation. :)
Good luck...and congrats! :)
