my new project.

Well as I continue to search for a job, I have found that I need to do something with my time. Sitting, cleaning, and exercising only take up so much of your day. I love to sit and read, but the lack of cozy places really doesn't inspire me to do so much. Lately I have found I need to my hands to be busy.... So I found a project.

Now found may not be the best word. I acquired a project. Our "new" old dresser. Since moving from the land of ice and snow we haven't had a dresser to place our clothing in... It is hanging in the walk-in closet, and stacked strategically on the shelves above. As I'm sure you ladies know, the first outfit you pick out in the morning doesn't tend to be the one you take off at night. You change once, maybe twice and if you are lucky three times. This is okay if it is just one girl and there are drawers involved. BUT when your husband does the same and there are no drawers.....it results in clothes everywhere! I finally decided the urgency of a dresser was on the top of our list of things to do. So of course we wouldn't get a dresser an easy way...there has to be a story. I mean its the Parker's you are talking about.

Two weeks ago Scottie volunteered us to help move his clinical instructor from her old house ((25+mins away)) to a new house right near school. It was a beautiful afternoon and Michelle ((instructor)) really needed muscles, so the guys did the working. They moved a washer, dryer, refrigerator, grill, patio kitchenette, and much more. I conveniently directed. In the garage was a cute old dresser Michelle wanted gone!!! BAM. We have a dresser, and the dresser has a home.

In the move the guys placed the older dresser in the back of the truck and brought it to her new house. Yes, I have a dresser with drawers. So this is where the story should end.... but it doesn't. As they were making trips back and forth moving things the dresser jumped in front of the truck and lost a leg. So now we have a 3-legged dresser. Later that night, he ((I guess that is the gender)) came home and we reattached the leg but not before 2 drawer handles fell off. As I watched him fall apart I was inspired. This inspiration comes from my fabulous mother and her love of refinishing trunks, chests, boxes and tables. I grew up watching grungy pieces of furniture be transformed into conversation pieces and awesome decorative pieces in my home. So I decided this dresser need a bit of a transformation.

I'm off and running. The dresser is out on the balcony, ready to be sanded down, beautified and stained. Luckily there is no paint so I don't have to mess with that...This past weekend we went and purchased gorilla glue to reattach his leg, and the first level of sandpaper. I'm back and forth constantly of how I want to finish it. What story I want it to tell. It shall be a fun little journey and project to fill my time.

Now only if I could find a job. I sure know the bank account needs me to. So on a more serious note, if you would be praying that the Lord would provide a job. I'm not being picky outside of the fact I would like to work for more than minimum wage and no retail. I feel that after paying mucho $$$ and getting a 4 year degree I can specify a bit?! If you have ideas please share, anything and everything helps. Currently I'm registered on two nanny websites, but haven't received any replies to job prospects... but as you and I know. The Lord provides. He will. I know this. It is just waiting for His timing, not mine...which can make me anxious. But I should be anxious for nothing. So anyways, as I spin in circles....continue to stay warm and cozy and we love you all. Praying for this new year in your life. Don't forget that each day is a blessing, and we are here to further the Kingdom. Live intentionally!
