How are you? Please share with us how you are doing…in a letter, a Facebook message, a quick text, a phone call….something. We miss you all more then we are able to fully express via technology. I have loved hearing from Jessie about NWC and can’t wait to hear more from you all.
Over that last week things have just picked up. We are constantly going and busy. My online classes are going in full force. Scottie started class, and then has clinical hours. He is working with the Women’s Volleyball team, and so they are in season traveling and playing all the time. So he has been gone with that. I have been putting hours in at The Sport Clinic. Which has been a fabulous time.
A little glimpse at my week last week. I taught our high schoolers about bones and muscles, and have had my heart softened for their situation. We are at a high school which is filled with old money. So its not the Edina or Eden Prairie, its like Cretin or St. Paul Academy. BUT. BUT. it also is filled with all the kids who get kicked out from other schools. So our class is mainly high risk youth. They are flunking out of high school, and need as many classes as they can get in hopes to graduate. So needless to say, they have not shown to be highly motivated or interested. Last week though they started to break out of their shell and we have been able to get some of them to enjoy our class. We are hoping that this continues and spreads through the entire class. Also last week I was able to evaluate 3 knees fully by myself and made the correct evaluation each time. It felt great to put in to practice what Jim has been teaching me, and what I had learned through the Kines department at NWC. I also have been hands on in the clinic every day now, and am able to run fully treatments for injuries. On friday night we had our first scrimmages, and I went with Jim to a 4-way scrimmage for Freshmen, JV and Varsity. It was a long 7 hours on the hot turf, but we had a pretty good night. Only 1 ankle injury, 1 concussion, a few with the wind knocked out of them, and some bad cramping. Also at football games out here it is like going to a fair. The food is fabulous. We had tacos, funnel cakes, kettle corn, frozen lemonade, and passed up the donuts, snow cones and corn dogs. lol. I hear that that wasn’t the best of the best, it only gets better from there!
So that was my week… in a nutshell.
A praise in our life has been Jim Clover (my boss). He is the most generous man, and greatest friend to us. Last week we were having to share our car, so on Monday Scottie dropped me off at the clinic in the morning and was going to pick me up later. Jim happened to be in the parking lot and saw this. Later during the day before we were heading to class, Jim told me we were going to swing by his house. I figured we had to grab things for class. When we got there he jumps out and throws me the keys to a car. He told me it was my bad luck because the vehicle at the end of the driveway as the Explorer. I jumped in the explorer and followed Jim to school. I thought that this was just going to be for the day so that Jim could get to his next appointment quickly after school. He also handed me cash to fill it up. Day after day I drove it to the clinic, thinking I would give it back to him, and each day he told me to just take it. Come Thursday he told me that he would need it back on Friday for his wife, Becky, who was flying back from NY. I totally understood and was ready to give it back. Friday morning he texted me and told me not to worry about it, and just bring it to him Saturday.
….side note…. Jim had invited Scottie and I out to dinner with him and his wife, and another couple Saturday night.
So we show up at the restaurant for dinner, and had a fabulous time on their treat to us. Again they were over generous. As we were leaving I handed Becky the keys so she could take the Explorer home, and she handed them back and told me they didn’t need it because they have 2 other vehicles!
so….the Lord has blessed us continually. We feel so loved through the Clover’s generosity, not only in the vehicle, but dinner and their willingness to just make us at home in California. We can not thank them enough. We continue to pray that we can shine Christ’s light in their lives, and they may come to see His Truth.
Thank you for all your prayers and love from afar. The Lord is answering them, in ways we could not have asked for. We have friends in the Clover’s, and a feeling of safety here. We know that if we ever need anything they are there to help, and if we just want to hang out they love our company.
We love you. We pray for you daily. We miss you. We can not wait to see you. We send our love, and hope to hear from you ALL soon!
