happy groundhogs day

Punxsutawney ((what kind of name is this))did not see his shadow, so spring is near!?

I still do not understand this celebration, even after going to the website and poking around. The FAQ section was probably my favorite, and can't be sure any of it is even true. But needless to say, coming from Minnesota Groundhogs Day never meant too much because we always knew winter/cold would last until April ((if we were lucky)) but most likely sneak into the beginning of May.

Anyways, it is now the wonderfully fast month of February. This week is my wonderful husband's birthday and I am so thankful that he has the whole weekend off so we can celebrate. I can't disclose all of what we will be doing, but I'm pretty sure any weekend involving football or basketball is fabulous in his world. So basketball games Friday night, Saturday, and the Superbowl on Sunday. Although as I think about this, could end his birthday weekend on a possible sour note. If you aren't aware, or weren't quite sure.....Scottie is not, and will never be a cheese head. He religiously cheers against them, and would be quite giddy to watch them painfully loose any given Sunday. Soooo.....you may know who he ((and myself)) are rooting for this weekend. Go Steelers, please don't let the Packer's ruin my husband's birthday weekend!

As the month begins we are going to intentionally plan to cross of some more things on our "intentionally living" list. Here are a few that you can look forward to hearing about.....

2. Memorize a book of the Bible together ((we are beginning this endeavor))
14. Make a cheesecake ((mini cheesecakes for Scottie's birthday))
20. Recreate a date with my hubby that we went on before we were married.
23. Deep clean phone numbers and facebook friends ((if you are reading this blog, don't worry))
48. Read a book a month ((Scottie choose to read "Fathered by God" by John Eldredge this month))
62. Put happy, motivational, encouraging notes/verses around the apartment.

Happy Groundhog's Day.
Stay warm today in the snowstorms and freezing temperatures.
We are anticipating a Frost Advisory tonight.
Oh, California you never cease to surprise me.

Very cool picture. Hope Scottie has a fabulous birthday! I totally understand you on the whole groundhog day thing. Six more weeks of winter or early spring??? Well, for us it WOULD be an early spring if it came in six more weeks. Hahahaha!

Aw, this was going to be Abby's birthday weekend too, until she decided to show up early!
I heard somebody saying we should cheer for the Packers to represent the midwest. Clearly, she was not a true Minnesotan (even I, as a ND girl, know that whoever is playing the Packers should win!).
Have a great weekend & happy birthday, Scottie!
